The city of Sydney was founded in 1788 by Arthur Phillip by Sydney Cove. Arthur Phillip was the leader of the First Fleet of Britain.

Jorn Utzon a Danish architect conceived and built the Opera House of Sydney. The construction was completed in 1973 and was officially opened by Queen Elisabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the 20th October 1973. The design of the Sydney Opera House is an expressionist modern design. In June 2007 The Sydney Opera House of Australia was made UNESCO World Heritage Site.
