Victoria is located in Australia and is
one of the states of the smallest continent of the world. The capital
city of Victoria is Melbourne and also its largest city. Victoria is the
most populated mainland state and the smallest. The most populated sate
of Australia is the New South Wales. Before the settlement of Europeans
in Victoria, there were around 30,000 Indigenous Australians living in
the area. The first European who settled in Victoria began in farming in
the 1830’s. When gold was discovered in Victoria, there have been
immigrants from all over the world in search of gold. Main immigrants
were from China and Ireland. Agriculture has a quite important place in
Victoria, during 2003-2004 the agricultural production increased by
seventeen percent. Half of Australia’s tobacco is grown in the state of
Victoria. Ninety percent of the Australians pears are produced by the
Victorian farms; other main vegetables are carrots, tomatoes, potatoes,
asparagus and broccoli. Victoria is also the centre of dairy farming in
the continent of Australia.
