Berlin was after the Second World War divided in two, Berlin West and Berlin East which became Berlin’s capital city. West Berlin surrounded by the famous wall was the Western exclave, the wall stood from 1961 to 1989. In 1990 Berlin East and West were reunified where Berlin regained the status of capital city of Germany. Berlin is the center of politics, science, media and culture in Europe.
