On the above picture is the Tower Bridge which crosses the River Thames. The Tower Bridge located in London England is a combination of suspension and bascule bridge. The Tower Bridge is located not far from the Tower of London from where is has been named. The Tower Bridge became with time an iconic symbol of London. The Tower Bridge forms part of a lot of other bridges in the country owned by the City Bridge Trust and maintained by the same company. On the picture can be seen that the bridge consists of two towers. Very often the Tower Bridge is referred to the London Bridge which is not the same. The bridge was originally painted chocolate brown since 1977 for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee the bridge has been painted white, blue and red. The Tower Bridge was opened in 1894. The design was done by Horace Jones who was the City Architect.
